Top Tips for Abundance

August 1st, 2009 2 Comments »

As many of my readers know, I am a huge believer in people taking charge of their own motivation and success in life.  I think that each and every person has within them the capacity to achieve whatever it is they want in life.  For some people this may come naturally but for most people it is a case of developing the right habits and rituals in order to steer their lives in a more positive direction.

“What are the right habits or rituals” you may ask?  Well after years of working as a Motivational Speaker and Business Coach these are the keys that I have identified as important to managing your personal motivation and attitude:

1.  Know what you want, find out what you’re getting and change what you do until you get what you want.  So many people drift through life aimlessly achieving nothing.  If you’re not getting what you want out of life well then maybe it’s time to sit down, think about and write down what you do want.  Then set those thoughts down into short-term and long-term goals.

2.  Do the Vision Board.  It’s a proven fact that the mind will focus on whatever you put in front of it – the mind does not know the difference between reality and your dreams.  It merely produces whatever you want it to produce.  Your vision board placed somewhere you can see it everyday will help focus your mind and get you excited about your goals. You cannot achieve your goals without emotional engagement. The two go hand-in-hand.

3.  Have an Attitude of Gratitude.  Why would the Universe give you what you desire if you don’t appreciate what you have already?  I love the idea and implementation of a Gratitude Journal.  It is the most powerful tool for getting what you want in life.  Remember to write down what you appreciate in your life and then write down what you are grateful to be receiving in your life (as if you are in the process of receiving it).  Simple but Wow so powerful.

4.  Energy in is Energy Out!  When you send out positive thoughts and feelings you will attract that right back.  Take charge of your emotions and their impact upon your happiness and relationships with other people.  Never take your bad mood to work – no one needs that. Ever!

5.  Lastly,  be fascinated with life.  Look at life through the eyes of wonder. Enjoy your children’s laughter, take time-out to really look at the trees or smell the flowers in your garden.  Think and reflect upon how amazing every little creature or human being actually is – we and everything around us is a miracle.  Gee, how lucky we are to have such a great inventor.

Here’s to you and your success! May you truly enjoy abundance in every way!

Move Your World!

June 24th, 2009 1 Comment »

For many years philosophers have said that the mind is powerful.  It can create whatever it is that your thoughts are constantly focused upon. ‘As you think, so you create and so you manifest’.

From my work as a business coach and professional speaker, I have seen how thoughts influence behaviour.  I have seen how simply changing a person’s thoughts from a negative perspective to a more positive perspective can dramatically improve a person’s heath, happiness and success.

Hey – I know how easy it is to get caught up in negativity.  We all get frustrated with traffic, moody partners or collegues.  And you’re not alone if the bills get you down or you battling to make ends meet. Millions of people get caught-up in a trap of negativity.  But that’s not the place you want to be in!  And what’s more it’s so easy to get caught-up in the negativity of other people.

Let me tell you that everyone has their problems.  It’s how you go about changing your thinking about the problem that determines where you will end up.  And it’s a lot easier than you think.

You can ‘Move you World’ from a place of sheer stress, anxiety and sadness to a brighter, happier and healthier world by deciding to change one thing… your thoughts!

More than ever before folk around the world are starting to understand the power of energy.  We’re learning that our thoughts create our reality.  What are thoughts – well they’re a form of energy.  Everything in the world is energy in one form or another.  So it stands to reason that when you’re thinking good things – well then good things will be attracted to you.

How do you change your  thinking?  Ever time you catch yourself thinking how bad things are or how someone is annoying you or even how lousy you’re feeling- stop yourself immediately and do the following…..

1.    Stop the thought in its track

2.    Know that thoughts have an energy force of their own

3.    Ask yourself how that thought makes you feel

4.    Immediately change the negative thought into a positive thought.

For example, let’s say you’re stuck in traffic.  You’re thinking how annoying this is and that you’re going to be late.  Stop that thought and then ask how does that make you feel – we’ll pretty frustrated you may reply.  Then ask yourself how much better you would feel if instead of being frustrated you were fascinated.  Look around you – watch others lose their cool and then realize that you have the choice to get annoyed or be fascinated.  By changing your thought you change how you feel and you’re in the driving seat of your emotions.

There are hundreds of other examples I could use but you get the point.  If you allow yourself to focus on the good in whatever situation you find yourself in then you are taking charge of your feelings.  It’s a matter of choice.   For more information on my presentations and workshops please visit me at grantdriver.com

Leverage your personal brand and stay employed

June 18th, 2009 2 Comments »

In the current economic climate many companies are retrenching employees on a daily basis.  As a Business Coach and Personal Branding Specialist my advice to anyone who is prepared to listen is this:  “Leverage your personal brand to stay employed”.

This means that you need to make sure that you are focused on the following key areas of your value proposition within your company:

Be Brand Distinctive:  Make sure that you are the best at what your job requires you to do.  Do what you do well and make sure that your performance is always first-class!

Be Brand Relevant:  Understand the needs of your internal and external clients.  When you know what they want and you are able to satisfy those needs then you’re relevant.  Companies will always retrench on the basis of whether or not you are relevant.  Make sure that you do more than is required to stay noticed and employed.

Lastly make sure that you’re consistent in everything you do. This includes your work performance, time management and your attitude.  Stay focused on the job and  keep your attitude positive.  That said, never walk away from negative people – run away from them!

Your personal brand is enhanced by knowing what your values are and living those values.  A good strategy to stay employed is to be an extension of the brand values of the company you work for.  Be seen to be committed to what your company stands for, be a team player and a solutions-driven employee.

When you’re passionate about your work and you’re providing value in everything you do you’ll stand a much better chance of becoming an integral part of the companies long-term strategy which means you’ll be asked to please stay!

Now is not the time to hide away

June 17th, 2009 1 Comment »

Together with my wife and children, I spent last weekend relaxing at a game reserve two hours out of Johannesburg.  This annual get away in June has become somewhat of a ritual in our family but I have to say that the wildlife let us down this year!

It’s as if all the animals including the Big Five had decided that they too would join in on the recession and not come out to play.  They obviously gave no thought or consideration to the fact that we were paying visitors who wanted bang for our buck (excuse the dreadful pun). However, the lack of game viewing got me thinking about how similar we humans are to animals.  How is that you may ask?  Well I think that the world-wide recession has got many people retreating back instead of getting out there and being involved, pro-active and hunting for business.

As a professional speaker and business coach I work with businesses on a daily basis.  The companies that are surviving the recession are out there meeting with their clients, being creative with business strategy, thinking out the box and in many cases are not only surviving but thriving in the current downturn.

So for all of my blog readers out there – don’t hide in the bush during the recession get out there and show your customers that you’re up for business, you’re prepared to collaborate and most importantly add value wherever you can.  And to the animals lurking behind those bushes in the game park best you up your game (sorry could not resist that one) and get out onto the playing fields where your paying customers can see you. In true family tradition, we’ll be back for more next year!
